Newtek has some very cool free online tutorials on their web sites. Also there's simplylightwave.com and asilefx.com for LW training.

My favorite artists like Ryan Bliss and Taron using LW but I never intend to use it. Looked pretty hard to learn by my self.

I always thought Lightwave was one of the easier (not entry level) 3D programs to learn. But I suppose it depends on how you work, it suits me right down to the ground :D
