Gallery Of Crap

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 10, 2009, 2:43 PM

I hate ranting but I'm sick'n tired of the people who have load of crap on their gallery and they still thinking that they are making amazing stuff! And extremely cocksure to not accept any god damn comment or critique.

Worse thing is - those crap getting over 10.000 views and every comment is like that; "woow awesome!", "amazing! wow!", "wow amazing work I love the dark sh*t on it!"... WTF man?! Are you loose your mind?! Can't you see it's a cheap garbage made in 2-3 minutes?!

I'm sick of this people who have load of crap on their gallery and they still thinking that they are making amazing stuff BUT I'm extremely sick'n tired of people who licking their asses with commenting and :+fav:'ing that garbage instead of appreciating REAL art in here.

I totally agree. It drives me crazy too. But I guess that's what we have to deal with on a site like this if we want to be members...

I'd love to agree with you, but lately I've been on an anti-elitism kick.

See, I'm an elitist. I've been using Maya for years professionally, and am Grand Master level with Photoshop. I have two extremely wicked workstations, one of them conveniently in my home, and cackle obscenely at anyone who owns anything Intel, much less one of those paltry "Macs".

But really, the egomania (mine, not yours...) isn't necessary and it doesn't help anyone. I too scorn all those people (especially at Poserosity!) who blindly say everything's great. But it's all a support mechanism; we feed our arrogance, they feed their own in their own ways.

My first instinct though was to point out that you use Poser and Vue... (grins) So, keep in mind when you're bashing others that there are many people out there who would consider using Poser MAKES you a poser. There's always another side, you know?

And really, it shouldn't matter. You make awesome art, and if people disagree, that's what opinions are all about. Just keep making it, my friend. Oh, and quit using Poser soon? (grins at you!)

(For the record... I'd use Vue more myself, but it's just too unstable for the kinds of scenes I make. I thought it was just 6, and waited for 6.5. Then I waited for 7 to "get it right". Now that 7.5's out and it still doesn't work, I'm just doing everything that Vue could do anyway in Maya, and then some. It just takes a lot longer to set up...)

My point being, there's always someone "better" out there. And if those people making crappy art getting great comments and thousands of views think art is a popularity game, well... Look at their paychecks. I guarantee mine are bigger!

Hmm, well I submitted a lot of crappy art in my first year here that I genuinly thought was good at the time and couldn't comprehend why it wasn't getting hundreds of faves :lmao: the worst of which was either deleted a long time ago or moved to scraps :shh:

Something tells me your'e referring to generic anime and "cartoony" stuff...for the most part I agree some artists get too much attention for something I could easily do, but there's a few here that do make that stuff and put an original twist to their style or subjects, and often they'll rise just above the others in popularity anyway, that I don't mind. But yeah - the others get it too easy here...they get dozens of commissions a week whilist I get that many in a year :p

I completely agree. Trust me I'm thinking about this a lot lately, and it's really annoying. Not that I'm a "professional" Vue artist or anything, I'm not a pro and I haven't even had the courage to talk about this openly, but even after this short time of experience, I can see the difference between good-quali works, works with minor faults and let's say it out, craps.
As I noticed, there must be something about the years behind the scenes; there are some people who are here for 5-6 years, and this time was enough for them to collect a crapload of watchers, and knowing dA, a lot of them might haven't even seen good artwork, so they can't compare :D
A lot of times it feels that people don't rate the artwork, but the artist. And they get positive comments because they "got used to it". :D ...but it's irritating to see that someone gets a bunch of faves and comments on a completely default work they made in 10 minutes (okay, not sure I'm always right in this), and I work on a scene for hours, I'm trying to pay attention to details and trying to make it as good as possible, still I don't see that "result" I expect...
And yes, "ass licking" is very common here :( :bleh:
